wan·der·lust: a strong desire to travel

Author: Taylor Reckert
One of my favorite quotes is “I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.” I have always felt strong wanderlust and am amazed at what the world as to offer. Traveling allows you to learn about different cultures, meet wonderful people, and even learn a lot about yourself. If you have the travel bug as I often do and are looking for a new adventure, here are some of my favorite places I have been that I suggest you explore as well!

1. New Zealand
New Zealand is every adrenaline junkie’s and nature lover’s dream.Queenstown is a city on the south island and is the place to go to for adventure. There’s hiking, biking, bungee jumping, zip lining, luging, white water rafting, boating, etc. The list goes on and on. For the not so adventurous, there is shopping, wine tasting, fun nightlife, and delicious restaurants to indulge in. On New Zealand’s north island, I suggest checking out the famous Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, hiking to Cathedral Cove, going to Te Puia- Rotorua Geothermal and Geysers (fun fact: it’s the largest geyser in the southern hemisphere), creating your own hot tub at Hot Water Beach, and taking a tour at Hobbiton for all the LOTR fans out there. For a more in depth look at one of my favorite countries, check out my blog below:
2. Novia Scotia, Canada
I feel like Canada is an underrated and hidden gem that most people don’t often think of traveling to. When I went, I visited Novia Scotia and it is filled with beautiful parks and beaches along with a boardwalk with delicious restaurants and bars. I spent a lot of time hiking and exploring! I would also suggest going whale watching as it was one of the coolest experiences being able to see such a majestic animal so close. And if you get a chance to go Tidal Bore rafting, it won’t let you down (it’s basically white water rafting, but all you have to do it hang on). Be sure to eat all the fresh seafood because you can’t leave Canada without a lobster dinner! For more information check out my blog on Novia Scotia, Canada:
3. Europe
Europe is a great place to visit as you can easily visit multiple countries (the train system is excellent) and start checking items off your bucketlist! From visiting the Guinness Factory in Ireland to drinking wine in a park near the Eiffel Tower in Paris, you can immerse yourself in all different cultures. Go take a dip in the thermal baths in Budapest, listen to an opera in Vienna, or go take a graffiti tour in Berlin. The options are endless and there is so much to do and see that I could go on and on for days.
4. Costa Rica

If you prefer the more tropical destination, then Costa Rica is the place for you! I stayed in Tamarindo which had a gorgeous beach and lots to do for all ages! There’s surfing, scuba diving, horse back riding, ATVs, etc. I would also recommend booking a few excursions as I got to experience a rainforest hike at the base of a volcano and I went on a catamaran for the first time. I would also suggest splurging on the fresh seafood there. After a full day of adventure, Costa Rica has some of the most breathtaking sunsets to finish off your day with. Check out my blog on Costa Rica for more:
5. Africa
Africa is the reason I fell in love with traveling and exploring the world. I visited South Africa, Swaziland, and Mozambique when I went and I would go back again in a heartbeat. I met amazing people; learned a lot about culture and wildlife; tried a variety of different foods (yes, I even tried wildebeest); and I got to see some of Africa’s well known Big 5 animals. Being on a safari and seeing animals you usually only see on TV or in zoos is something everyone should experience.
There are tons of other amazing places to travel to throughout the world. So get out there and start planning your next adventure! You won’t regret it.
